Tell us a little about you (short bio ~150 words).

I have lived in Chattanooga for the past 13 years. My background is in Civil Engineering and I began my career in Dam Safety at TVA. I transitioned into the Real Estate Development and Construction industry. I am passionate about sustainability, particularly learning how to build healthier buildings with a lower environmental impact. I enjoy hiking and traveling with my husband and am a proud cat mom.

What motivates you?

I am motivated by people who have the confidence to be themselves and follow their passion rather than money.

When you’re not working, where and how do you spend your time?
I love exploring and hiking in the mountains. When I’m not relaxing on the couch with my husband, I am most likely studying for my next certification.

What advice do you have for women aspiring to be leaders in their field?
Find a mentor who is willing to support, encourage, and guide you. Also, practice getting out of your comfort zone.

Can you name a person who has had a tremendous impact on you as a leader? Why and how did this person impact your life?
A previous boss and mentor, Mike Deering. He was intentional to not only coach me on management and leadership skills but ensured I had the opportunity to exercise these skills. He pushed me out of my comfort zone and gave me the platform to grow as a leader.

What has been your proudest moment in your career?

Due to COVID and our downsized team, I took on the challenge of creating and managing the process for how the company handled our 400+ tenants during this uncertain time. Most recently, I earned my LEED AP BD+C credentials.

What strides do you think members can take to make more of a difference in women’s leadership issues in the local community?

Empowering young women to join and lead traditionally male-dominated industries and occupations. It would be great to break down barriers for young female students by encouraging and supporting them in the STEM field.

How would you best describe the benefit found in joining this organization?

Gaining a network of wonderful and supportive women who are there to lift each other up.
